Air source heat pump not heating

Mar 09, 2022

If your heat pump isn't blowing hot air, Inno Thermal believes there are usually three main reasons:

Blocked unit: Your heat pump is pulling heat from the outside air into your home. If the airflow to your unit is blocked by snow, ice, leaves, or other types of debris, this can make it difficult for the heat pump to work. Fortunately, the solution is simple. Clean out your heat pump and remove any debris that might be in the way.

Dirty air filters: The job of the air filter is to collect dust and debris, but if too much accumulates, it can block airflow to the compressor, which is the part that heats the air. This solution is also simple. Check your filter and replace it with a new one if it's dirty

Low refrigerant bills: If your refrigerant levels are too low, most likely due to a leak, your heat pump will struggle to bring enough heat indoors to heat your home. Get a professional to check if your blood volume is too low or if your system needs charging.
