Reasons for the continuous operation of the air source heat pump
Mar 11, 2022
If your heat pump is running all the time, there may be three main reasons:
Unusually cold weather: Heat pumps are designed to work much slower than furnaces. If the weather is particularly cold, your heat pump may run almost all the time without issue.
Thermostat problem: Double check to make sure the thermostat is set correctly. If so, it could be a faulty calibration issue causing the thermostat to read the wrong temperature, or a wiring issue that signals an electrical problem. In both cases, you will need to find a professional to solve the problem.
Broken compressor contractor: The compressor contactor controls how much power goes into your heat pump. If it's damaged, your heat pump may run all the time.
