Its working principle is very similar to that of an air conditioner. It uses a small amount of electric energy to drive the compressor to run. The high-pressure liquid working medium evaporates into a gaseous state in the evaporator after passing through the expansion valve, and absorbs a large amount of heat energy from the air; the gaseous working medium is compressed. The compressor is compressed into a high-temperature, high-pressure liquid state, and then enters the condenser to release heat to heat the water. Such a continuous cycle of heating can heat the water to 50°C~65°C.

In this process, 1 part of electricity is consumed to drive the compressor, and about 4 parts of heat can be absorbed and transferred from the ambient air to the water. Therefore, compared with electric water heaters, air energy water heaters can save nearly 3/4 of electricity. That is, the electric water heater consumes 4kW·h of electricity to produce hot water, and the air energy water heater only needs 1 kWh of electricity.
